Respite
Living with a disability can be challenging for the person living with the disability and also for the person’s family.
At HYPE Aged & Disability Services, we understand that families and friends who support loved ones who live with a disability, need to take a break to recharge and this can make all the difference for a person living with a disability and their families.
STA or respite provides both the participant, and their families, support to take a break from their usual routine and relax, recharge and perhaps take the opportunity to do those things that don’t usually fit into their daily lives. That could be to socialise, exercise, enjoy a short holiday or maybe just a good sleep in.
It’s important to understand that taking a break in the form of respite care services is necessary from time to time for participants and their family's continuing wellbeing.
A short period respite is often the ‘circuit breaker’ that is needed to relieve stress, give a renewed sense of objectivity, and helps families living with a disability maintain a healthy, sustainable long-term model of support.
This support could be available for anyone with CORE supports on their plan.
Please contact your Support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator for confirmation of utilisation.
HYPE provides both In-Home Respite and Community based Respite.
In – Home Respite is offered in the participants home where it can be convenient for families that need a break.
Our Support Workers come to the family home to provide as much care as individually tailored and for as long as you need. This type of respite includes meal preparation, day care or assistance with any number of other everyday activities. It can involve outings to parks or attractions. It might be a few hours several times a week, overnight or for longer breaks. We can tailor respite to suit your needs so that everyone has the time they need to recharge.
Community Based Respite is offered as a ‘Get away' for the participant, similar to a short holiday and includes the same individually tailored support as In-home Respite.
Please contact your Support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator for confirmation of utilisation.
Independent Living Skills
At HYPE Aged & Disability Services, we believe that living with a disability includes learning and growth. We support participants in moving towards their independent living skills to achieve everyday routine and goals.
HYPE can support you with different skills for everyday life, such as:
-
Food Preparation
-
Money Management
-
Personal Care skills
-
Personal Hygiene skills
Achievements that could seem minor to many, can represent huge steps forward for people living with disabilities, especially for young people. Having the right support can boost self-confidence when goals are achieved safely and independently. Listening to our participants and families' goals are the starting point in building a plan for learning, growth and supporting the participant to reach greater independence.
This support could be available for anyone with CAPACITY BUILDING supports on their plan.
Please contact your Support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator for confirmation of utilisation.
